"Bringing the Science of Spiders and Insects to the Classroom"

ArachnoScience Bio - Jason Diltz

Jason's lifelong interest in spiders and insects began after attending a school assembly in which a local entomologist was speaking. Soon after, he and a few of his fellow sixth graders, took to the stage conducting classroom presentations of their own, using local fauna.
After High School and College, Jason broadened his science background while working in Laboratory Medicine. He studied and conducted testing in Microbiology, Parisitology, Hematology, and Serology. After nearly 15 years in the laboratory, Jason shifted his focus to Arachnology and Entomology.
Jason has studied subjects as diverse as spider reproduction, taxonomy, and has a special interest in the Widow Spiders. His personal collection of live spiders numbers in the thousands.
Jason served as a consultant for the History Channel's "MonsterQuest" and also appeared on KOMO 4’s Northwest Afternoon. He has conducted more than 1000 presentations throughout the Northwest for public and private schools, area parks and recreation programs, and private corporate events.
Many of Jason's photographs were used by the Woodland Park Zoo for their "Masters of the Web," exhibit. Virginia Tech., and several other universities and private institutions have also utilized Jason’s spider photographs for various exhibits and/or publications.
Jason is fully insured and has a State Patrol Background Certification on file.
